Blaq Ice, an acclaimed American poet and international spoken word artist, entertainer, lecturer, promoter, producer, host, published author, mentor, and activist, amassing over three decades of experience in the industry. A true trailblazer, Blaq Ice etched his name in history by founding the inaugural National Spoken Word Awards in 2017. His influence played a pivotal role in the renaming of Lake Shore Drive to DuSable Drive and prompted the City of Chicago to institute the Poet Laureate honor, establishing Blaq Ice as the Father of the Chicago Poet Laureate Award.
In 2023, he secured his 9th Chicago Music Award for Best Spoken Word, adding another accolade to his illustrious career.
