This unique blend of influences, executed with incredible emotion and top notch musicianship, makes this pairing a truly captivating experience."
Dave Herrero, originally from Clearwater, Florida got his first taste of the power of blues music by watching Buddy Guy on Austin City Limits as a kid. Hailing from many generations of musicians (his grandfather Luis was one of the first to move to New York from the Dominican Republic in the 1930’s and recorded many records for Victor / RCA with his group “The Dominican Serenaders”) this prompted Dave to start learning how to play guitar and he would sneak out of military school weekly to attend a local blues jam at the Green Iguana in Tampa, Florida frequented by local legends James and Lucky Peterson. Dave attended and graduated from University of North Florida where he started his first band in Jacksonville Beach, and played his first blues festival, the "Springin the Blues Festival" at age 19, where he went on to Memphis to represent the Jacksonville area at the IBCs.
After graduating and prompted by his good friend Seth Walker, he made the move to Austin, Texas to cut his teeth with the likes of Gary Clark Jr, the Keller Brothers, Matt Powell and the Moeller Brothers. It was there he began touring internationally with Archie Bell and the Drells (of "Tighten Up!" fame) and began touring internationally at the age of 22 under his own name and hasn't stopped since. In 2004, Dave made the move to Chicago where his brother “Mike Hero” was working with many local hip hop artists who named the duo “The Hero Brothers”. From 2005 - 2015, The Hero Brothers began producing music for Harpo, Inc. and the Oprah Winfrey Show, contributing roughly 1000 compositions to the show’s productions.
During his time in Chicago, Dave has continued touring and has been blessed to grace the stage many times with the living legend himself who inspired him to learn how to play guitar, Mr. Buddy Guy. When not working on his music publishing and licensing company, “Who’z the Boss Music”, Dave can be found playing at the famed historic Chicago blues club Rosa’s Lounge every Tuesday night with his band, playing with Cesar Rosas’ (of Los Lobos) side project “Cesar Rosas and the Chitown Playboys” and lighting up regional and European festivals.
