For the past 27 years, Funkadesi has consistently and emphatically personified inclusive joy. Winner of last year's Chicago Music Award for Most Outstanding Group, and nominated again for Chicago Reader's "Best World Music Group 2023, Funkadesi knows how to wow crowds with their blend of Indian bhangra, Bollywood, and folk with reggae, funk, and Afro-Caribbean grooves. They deliver a virtuoso high energy musical experience. With members who are unprecedentedly diverse (Indian-American, African-American, Jamaican, Latino, and European-American), their music expresses their motto: “One family, many children…Insisting we all belong.”
A chi-town hidden jewel, Amyna Love is a Classically trained Independent artist influenced by a range of artists such as Paramore, Lianne la Havas and Ella Fitzgerald. Her alternative sound is a fusion of punk and soul sprinkled with the African influences of her upbringing. Love has opened for artists such as Goapele and Miamouna Yousef (of August Green).
